Backstory:

I come from a small town on the east coast…you know the type of town where everybody knows everybody. Whenever my dad was heading to the big city for business, I was tugging at his jacket itching to tag along. At an early age I knew I was destined for bigger things, more than this small town could offer. On my 18th birthday, I enlisted into the Army with the promise of “seeing the world”. This was going to be my chance to see what this world had to offer, and where do I fit in. While leaving home was sure to be a little scary, it was time for my next chapter.

The military life is not all fun like those damn commercials made it seem. There I was, heading back to the desert for my second wartime deployment in 4 years. This wasn’t exactly what I signed up for, but I had a job to do. You never know how you are gonna react when other’s lives are on the line, so being mentally tough was essential. It was a long road to traverse, but after a grueling 15 months we finally made it back to the States.

After that last deployment, I knew my time in the military was coming to an end. I was ready to go home and see some familiar faces, and I was so ready for a home cooked meal. I pulled into town to a hero’s welcome, practically the entire town was there to celebrate my return. It made me feel good, appreciated, and proud to represent my small portion of the country. Over the next few weeks, I was greeted with “Welcome home” everywhere I went. As a favor to a friend who was now teaching at the schoolhouse, I did a few speaking engagements for the kids. They had so many questions about military life, but some things I just couldn’t answer in that setting. As great as being home felt, it didn’t take long for me to realize that not much has changed. There wasn’t much here for me. Over the next year I moved from job to job, mainly handyman things. This is not what I envisioned for my life…what am I doing here?

It’s time to make a change, because this wasn’t the life for me. I need to be where the action is, somewhere I can make a name for myself. Maybe I can be a businessman, my name could be known across the world. If not, I could always fall back on my military training, provide security or become a LEO. While in the Army, I met some guys from out west. They often spoke of a place that could offer me the kind of opportunities I’ve been dreaming of my entire life. I would sometimes wonder why they would ever leave a place this interesting, but they must have their reasons. All I know is that I must find my way out there to see what I’m made of. A place where nobody knows my name…that’s it, a fresh start!

My name is Kane Blacc, next stop…El Reno!

How do they react to stressful situations?

Kane has adapted to stressful situations, thanks to his military time. He is able to maintain his composure through it all, leading those with him to safety.
